I do like tricks using dice and cards combined, as you said, it gives the 'Random' choice to the spectator, my best guess using the dice, has something to do with 7 and 14, (opposite sides of any dice always adds to 7, using 2 dice is always 14) thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

The dice are needed for the trick to work (i'll let you figure that one out)- but the excuse i would use for use of the dice, is to add a little bit of random selection, with a bit of the intuitiveness of the spectator's selection in creating the card value -no psychology involved in the card selection - just intuitive, creative, selection based on a random die roll - make sense?

Have just watched this, if you take out 8 random cards, why do you need the dice please?
